I'm coming to a Learn-To-Curl - what should I wear?
Plan on wearing flexible athletic clothing that allows you to move freely and easily: you’ll be squatting and lunging to deliver the stone, and walking while vigorously sweeping as the stone travels down the ice.
The rink is about 45 – 55°F, and you’ll be standing on ice, so we recommend dressing in layers. Dress warmly; you can always peel off a layer if needed as you warm up once the sweeping begins.
Bring a pair of clean, flat-soled shoes to change into; you can swap out your outdoor shoes in our setup area. Avoid heavy boots or shoes with heels. We will provide you with grippers to put over your sneakers or walking shoes to help prevent you from slipping.
What if I have physical limitions and don't think a lunge on ice is for me?
We can accommodate you. Stick delivery is a way to play curling without the 'squat and lunge' slide out for stone delivery. Instead of squatting down to the ice, you stand up and push the stone using a specialized pole. It is the perfect option for curlers who need to skip the sliding technique and avoid knee, hip and back strain.
Safety Note: Helmets (bike, ski, hockey) are recommended for minor children and are always welcome for adults.
